Privacy Policy
Effective May 18, 2026
Coveron ("Coveron," "we," "us," or "our") operates the AI insurance advisor available at coveron.ai and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By using the Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide directly
- Conversation content. Messages you type into the chat, including details about your age, family situation, income, debts, existing coverage, health, and state of residence — the inputs we need to calculate your coverage gap and find relevant insurance options.
- Phone number. Collected only when you take an action that requires it (joining the waitlist, locking a rate, requesting a coverage report be sent to a partner) and verified via SMS one-time-passcode.
- Email address. Optionally collected as an alternative to phone.
- Consent records. When you provide SMS consent (TCPA), we record the verbatim consent text, the time it was given, and the device session in which it was given.
Information collected automatically
- Conversation metadata. Timestamps, the AI model used per turn (Claude Haiku or Claude Sonnet), the conversation phase, and which tools the AI called on your behalf (e.g., coverage-gap calculator, carrier lookup).
- Compliance events. Discrete records of meaningful moments — gap revealed, quotes shown, waitlist joined, rate locked — so we can demonstrate the suitability of any recommendation if a regulator asks.
- Device + network information. IP address (used only for rate limiting), browser type, and approximate geographic region (US state).
- Cookies and local storage.A session identifier in your browser's local storage so your conversation survives a page refresh. After phone verification, an HTTP-only session cookie issued by our authentication provider (Supabase).
Information we do not collect in chat
- Social Security numbers (these are collected only inside the secure carrier application form, not in the chat — and are passed directly to the chosen carrier, never stored by us)
- Banking or payment information (the Service is free; carriers compensate us via commission)
- Full home address (collected only inside the secure carrier application form)
2. How we use your information
- To run the AI conversation that calculates your coverage needs and identifies relevant insurance options.
- To send you the one-time passcodes (OTP) that verify your phone number.
- To save your conversation across devices so you can pick up where you left off.
- To send you SMS messages about your coverage — coverage reports, rate-lock reminders, application status — only after you give consent and verify the phone number.
- To document the suitability of any insurance recommendation we surface, for regulatory compliance.
- To prevent abuse (rate limiting by IP address; failed-OTP throttling by phone).
- To improve the AI's performance through aggregate, de-identified analysis.
3. SMS and text-message communications (TCPA)
Phone numbers are required only at the points in the conversation where SMS delivery is the purpose — for example, when you opt to receive a coverage report, lock a rate, share results with a partner, or sign in on a different device.
Before we collect your phone number, you will see a clear consent statement on the page:
By providing your number, you agree to receive texts from Coveron about your coverage. You can opt out anytime.
Message frequency
You may receive up to ~10 messages per month tied to active conversations or pending decisions. We do not send marketing texts. We do not enroll you in recurring campaigns. Texts taper off automatically once your decision is resolved.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any Coveron text message at any time to be removed from all SMS communications. Reply HELP for support information. You may also email us at privacy@coveron.ai to opt out of all communications, including system messages.
Carriers and rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your wireless plan. Coveron does not charge you for SMS — we cover the per-message cost from our side. Your carrier may apply rates on yours.
Carrier limitations
T-Mobile users: T-Mobile is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SMS delivery is best-effort across all carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, others); if a message doesn't arrive within a few minutes, you can request a resend in the app.
4. How we use AI
The Service is powered by large language models from Anthropic (Claude Haiku and Claude Sonnet). When you send a message, the content of your conversation, the AI's prior responses in that conversation, and tool-call results are transmitted to Anthropic to generate the next response.
We do notuse your conversations to train Anthropic's models, and Anthropic does not use API content for model training by default (per Anthropic's commercial Terms of Service).
All carrier-specific information — rates, underwriting rules, product features — comes from a verified database we maintain or from the COMPULIFE quote-comparison API. The AI does not generate carrier-specific facts from its own memory.
5. How we share information
We share information only with the following parties, only as needed to operate the Service:
- Anthropic — to generate AI responses (see Section 4).
- Supabase — to store your account, conversation transcripts, and compliance events.
- Twilio — to deliver SMS one-time-passcodes and outbound text messages.
- Upstash — to operate per-IP and per-phone rate limiting.
- Vercel — to host the Service and serve responses.
- COMPULIFE — to fetch real-time carrier quotes (when this feature is enabled).
- The insurance carrier you select — when you decide to apply for coverage, your application data is sent to the chosen carrier to begin underwriting. This is the only time your information leaves the Service's technical scope.
- Regulators — if required by law, subpoena, or in connection with an insurance regulatory audit.
We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with other insurance agents, lead-generation companies, or marketing networks. Your data stays between you and the carrier you choose.
6. Data retention
We retain conversation transcripts and compliance records for the period required by state insurance regulations (typically 3 to 7 years from the date of the conversation or, if you bound a policy, 3 to 7 years after the policy ends — whichever is later).
You can request deletion of your data by emailing privacy@coveron.ai. We will honor deletion requests except for data we are legally required to retain (e.g., suitability records on bound policies).
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Opt out of all communications.
- Object to certain uses of your information.
California residents: please see the "California Privacy Rights" section below. To exercise any right, email privacy@coveron.ai.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices including TLS encryption for all data in transit, row-level security on our database to prevent cross-user access, scoped API keys for third-party integrations, and HTTP-only session cookies. Sensitive identifiers (SSN, full address, financial details collected during a carrier application) are passed directly to the chosen carrier and are not stored in our systems.
No system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a security issue, please contact security@coveron.ai.
9. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you specific rights including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, the right to correct, the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the right not to face discrimination for exercising any right.
Coveron does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise other California rights, email privacy@coveron.ai.
10. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us at privacy@coveron.ai and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Effective Date" at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email/SMS where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
